February 28, 2024 Race Update
Trail Ethusiast:
We can't wait to see you on Saturday (March 2nd) for the Mac Forest Trail Runs 5k / 15k. Please read through the event details so you are ready for a great day.
Race Day: The address that will get you there is 8692 NW Peavy Arboretum Rd, Corvallis, OR. Our website has directions as well. www.macforesttrailruns.org
Start Times: 15k @ 9:00am 5k @ 9:30
Parking: We are guests in McDonald Forest, please respect the rules and park only where indicated. I would encourage you to consider carpooling if you can, parking is limited. Please follow the signs to the race parking, do not park in any of the other lots. There will be volunteers to help direct you. Parking opens up at 7:15am. If you come earlier than that, the gate will be locked.
Registration and bib pick up begins at 7:30am. It is not too late to sign-up. So if a loved one, friend, cousin, neighbor, or running buddy still wants to run, tell them to just show up and sign up in person.
Shirts: For those who ordered a shirt, they will be available for pick up with your bib. If you are still interested in a shirt, we have a limited number available for purchase. Prior year shirts will also be available for purchase, so if you missed last year, we might have your size still available.
Weather: The forecast has been a bit all over the place. Everything from snow, cold rain, to no rain. Keep an eye out on it, and please dress accordingly. With the added rain this week, it should make for a perfect adventure.
First Aid: We are grateful for the generous support from Corvallis Family Medicine to help provide first aid. They will be located at the start / finish line should you need them. As always, if it is an emergency, please call 911. You know yourself and your body. If you know you shouldn’t run, then please join me in cheering everyone on and save the racing for another time.
Course: There was a lot of tree damage as a result of the ice storm earlier this year. The great folks that manage the forest and numerous volunteers have worked to open up the trails. We thank them and their efforts.
We will be out on the course on Friday and if the weather and the effects it has had on the trails requires it, we may push the 5k to start at 9:45 to give more time for the 15k runners to spread out. We will let you know when you pick up your bib. Plan on 9:30 for now. Both races have some of the same uphill fun.
The course itself will be the same as last year. We will do our best to have great signage and markings to keep you on course. We had hoped to add in two new trails to the 15k, but for sustainability reasons, OSU asked us not to use them, and we support their efforts to keep the Forrest a great place for our community. Something to look forward to for next year. A map can be found on our website. We will also have maps at the registration table for your review.
Post Race: Upon crossing the finish line, you will be greeted with your very own finisher’s medal. The top three men and women for each race will be awarded a custom Mac Forest Trail Runs plaque. First place in each age group will be awarded a pair of Mac Forest Socks. You will be able so see you results shortly after crossing the finish line. Our friends from Best of the West will be providing chip timing and have a results display to see your time results.
After your run, feel free to hang around and cheer on other finishers while enjoying some Hot Chocolate and goodies.
We, with all our partners and local high school teams, thank you and celebrate you. Until Saturday, be safe, be well, and well tapered.
With Gratitude,
The Race Directors
